What I Like to Eat

anything mommy likes or has or looked at or is considering eating.
Cheese, but I can't have so much anymore, mommy said its not good for me!
....the cat food!!!
Shh.. I find ways....
Now that I have most all my adult teeth
I can eat a whole med rawhide bone in one sitting once I want to eat it.
I usually like to show it off and play with it for a few days first.
Grandpas dog Suka helped me learn how to eat a bone,
I had lots of trouble figuring that out
even though Mommy says I'm smarter than people sometimes!
OH..
and I love something mommy puts on her lips I don't
know what it is called..
she says lipstick and then she says chapstick..
If Mommy is putting on lipstick or chapstick or makeup
I love to watch and try to get some.
Once the lipstick or chapstick/gloss is on her I stick my head out for Mommy
to put it on my lips too!
Then Mommy leans over and I give her a kiss with my chapstick lips.
and she gets all happy!
Mommy says that I "sure am a girl"
She also says Im quite the drama queen..
..........I don't know what that means yet.....

What I like to do

I am learning to do everything! I can learn what they call "tricks" pretty fast.
I love to give paw, other paw, kiss, hug, laydown, sit, sitting gets me lots of treats!
I also can talk and sing and bark and I am still learning to catch things..
Everyone calls me Ripley and they say its a special name!
But mommy likes to call me Baby.. she says she can tell I like it better and I do!
How can mommy tell? She says I am like a big cat and like the leopard
in a movie she likes called "Bringing Up Baby". We didn't watch that together yet..
we do watch movies together, mommy loves movies!
I also love to listen to mommy sing.. or anyone sing! I like to listen to big band
music and singers. Mommy says the leopard loved that too! I guess a leopard is a
really big cat. I know cats, there are two in our pack.. I like to tease them.
Mommy says cats clean themselves and she says Im a dog. But I love to clean up
I have a regime in the morning and before I want to go to bed
OH I love taking walks! I want to see what is out there! Im very curious!
Im also kinda shy unless my Mommy is there...
I love rides in the car too as long as mommy is there. She says I sit quietly
and she likes to watch me walk around in the back to take it all in..
no longer than an hour though.. I am a girl and I dislike getting all heated up from the AZ sunlight
Suka is fun too! He plays with me sometimes. He is grandpas dog, a german shepard.
He is kind of strange because he will chase the hose around the yard even if there
is no water in it! I like to watch him. He will share his bone with me too if I lay close to him.
Suka is like an older brother to me, and he acts like it too..
I will bring all kinds of toys to him but he will usually go and play alone with that darn hose. grr.
If Mommy comes and says "play with puppy" then he listens. He is goofy to me.
Our favorite game is the Rope!!!! When we have the rope, we go nutty..
we chase each other fast as we can in circles around the couches and we play-fight
over the squeekies or whatever I dig up for play.
I love to hide bones in the yard, but I wont dig to hide them.
I love to nap in sunlight in the morning, oh did I say I LOVE peanut butter?!!!!
One time after I was sick Mommy tried to get me to eat.
(She is part Italian so that means she feeds people she loves to heal them *giggles)
She fed me the dog food I eat (crunchy) but she surprised me!
It was all mixed with tons of peanut butter until it formed like a cake
OMG I went nutty and ate the entire thing!! Mommy says Ill get it again on my Birthday!
I will try any food mommy eats .. even vegetables, which I learned now are good for Rotties!
Of course now that Im going to be a whole year old,
my tastes are refining and well I'm beginning to start getting picky.
I LOVE my family! We are a great pack. So I constantly watch over the home.
I watch out the windows If I hear anything at all and if I see something
it won't get away from me. I will follow it to all the windows in the house till its gone.
Mommy says my barking isn't too bad but she doesn't like barking so I talk instead.
She laughs when I run through the house to find the outsider! I love to do that.
...hmm... I don't like our neighbor.. I don't know why but animals know best.
Mommy thinks it's funny. I love to creep up and Bark at him just as he comes near our fence..
I am always planning things out.. *giggle*
And our cats.. I so like to tease them to death. I nudges their little butts with my
nose and they get all weird about it. lol. I don't know why they are so prissy!
I just want to hug and kiss them like I want to hug and kiss everybody!
If strangers come to the door with mommy I check them first before they can sit...
Mommy says I frisk them. I'm nice and I give them kisses afterwards
Mom says she loves that I still sleep in her bedroom on my own bed
I hope she loves that forever, I do.

Where we'd go if I got to choose the destination of our next vacation

I would most likely want to be somewhere cooler.. lol..
Rotties like me, we do Not like heat and Mommy says I get a little diva about it.
Mommy lived in Chicago before, so I would have loved that!
She likes Arizona better though and I think there is more to see here!
Mommy says AZ is much too wonderful!!!!
I would also like to go back to where mommy says my ancestors came from ..
Rotties are traced all the way back to Rome and before that,
no one knows where we originated ...I Like that. I am special.
Mommy said she would like to see her heritage there too.

How I came to be in the care of my owner

My name "Ripley" comes from the woman in Alien
(mommies fave movie forever)..
because Ripley is a survivor. She came though a hard time...
..........and so did I mommy said.

One day I was on my leash like always and I saw a tall man come into the yard..
I wanted to see him but I stayed quiet so I wouldnt be in trouble.
That man turned out to be my grandpa!
Mommy says he was going to yard sales like he loves to..
Grandpa is called "the hawk"
He smelled like he came from about 8 miles away...
While he was looking at the things all over the front yard I watched him.
He saw me! Suddenly he came to see me!
No one really ever did that.
I loved it and tried to hug and kiss him as much as I could..
.....but my 4ft leash was too short for me to jump far..
he was smiling and he liked me I could tell!
I wanted to play and have him stay.. but he went back soon
to the things in the yard.
Maybe he wanted to find a ball or something.
I stayed at the side of the house and laid down again and watched him.
The two siblings of the house noticed the man had come to see me and came over to him.
I hoped he was not in trouble.
I saw them say that he could have me!
They asked him to just take me. I don't know why they had me really,
I don't think they liked me.
I stayed outside all the time and I was younger then..
I wanted to run and be a puppy! The man seemed confused why they
wouldn't want me, but they kept saying to take me take me.
I think they were trying to keep me away from their father.
He was not a nice man.
I wondered what would happen.. where I belonged...
there was another dog there but they loved that dog and I knew I didn't belong.

I felt the man thinking about me, but mommy explained to me
that at that time grandpa thought he didn't want another dog especially
since he has a german shepard!
So he went about and looked more ..
he was looking at me a few times but I felt he
was going to go soon.
Mommy says he was wondering about if I was abused
(that means treated mean and ignored and things)
or if I ever was brought inside at all.

When he left he drove almost 2 miles ... I could still smell him..
but I decided to forget.
Mommy says that suddenly Grandpa said he felt like "someone in his heart"
or God was pushing him to
"go and get that dog because she belongs to your daughter"
Mommy said grandpa didn't want to do it, but his heart did very much.
Im glad!!
I'm thankful that god saw me even though Im so tiny..
and that grandpa felt something was telling him that it was really important.
I knew he was coming back when he was a mile away I sensed him!
I laid still and waited to see if he came back for me...

When the car came I got excited!
I saw the man talk to the siblings and then the siblings
came over to me.. I didn't know what was going on..
they took my leash off and I got happy to be free!
Then they led me to the man! I was so happy I was kissing him and jumping!
I felt he was going to take me somewhere..
I didn't care because I knew this man was a nice man..
I got into the car quickly and heard him talking to me..
I watched out the back window until the house was gone....
and then I turned around and watched where we were going..
I couldn't control my tail it was wagging and wagging!
The man told me to sit and I behaved.. I was
just so excited and he seemed very happy to have me in the car

Note from Mommy:
2 years ago I left a husband because of abuse and I think me and Ripley
bonded so FAST because we really don't need to try..
we just seem to read each others minds and know.

Pretty soon we came to a house.. it was an 8 mile drive!
I was taken inside the house!
And another dog came to see me!
It was Suka and he really liked me.
I was happy to be inside and seeing all these new things..
I was very nervous though.
I felt someone else in the house.. and the man called out to someone..
he called and called.
Mommy said she was asleep but she heard grandpa calling
and came out to see why...Thats when I first saw mommy!
We both looked at each other for a second and I saw she was very tired,
she smiled at me though and I got happy!
I ran to her and jumped to give her a quick hug..
not knowing if she liked that or not.. then I walked around the front room
to smell what I could smell... my tail just kept wagging..

I heard mommy talking to grandpa..
she was VERY surprised to see me!
Grandpa just said to her "here is your dog!!"
I heard mommy say she didn't need a dog and she was confused
why grandpa would be so kind!! I knew she liked me.
Mommy was very confused and tired for awhile but she called me over
and looked at me.. grandpa told her all about how he found me and
where I was and I sat with mommy.
I was always a big puppy and mommy couldn't believe how young I was!
She also began to cry when she looked at me,
I was happy but mommy was crying.. she hugged me and I liked that....
Mommy says that grandpa couldnt finish his story about where he got me in time..
because by that time she said she could read my eyes..
I liked mommy a lot.. she saw into me.
I liked her even more than I liked the man!!
I heard grandpa say that he had not seen Mommy smile that big
or laugh that much in years :)
Then I knew she loved me.
Mommy held me tight all day and she was easily worried about me..
she showed me her kitties and told me to be nice.. I was nice..
I just was very curious!! I never saw kitties before!

Note from Mommy:
No one could take her from me from that moment on...
I was mortally attatched like she was blood, family.
I could feel her.. and we bonded in just that short time..
and each day we bond more and more..
She will never leave my side as long as I have anything to say about it!!! *sniff*
