What I like to do
I was born deaf. My mom trained me using American Sign Language. I know about 15-20 signs/words now, including "sweet", "pretty", "I love you", all the basic obedience commands, and I also know how to "speak" even though I can't hear myself saying anything...I am also a certified/registered Therapy Dog and I like to visit nursing homes and hospitals to cheer people up.
Where we'd go if I got to choose the destination of our next vacation
anywhere warm with a beach. I'm hairless so I like warm weather.
How I came to be in the care of my owner
My parents (doggie ones) were a Canadian champion and a Swedish champion. I came to the US to a breeder in Michigan to be a show dog like my parents. I was just a puppy when I got to the states, and neither my breeder in Canada or my new family/breeder realized at the time that I was completely deaf and had born with closed ear canals. My now/current-'forever' mom was interested in a puppy from my breeder/owner in MI., but after we met, I was smitten with her and my new dad, and vice versa. New mom already had 2 therapy dogs and it was decided that I should go live with her so I could be one too since I didn't have a career as a show dog due to my deafness. We are now living happily ever after and I'm a busy girl, being a muse to my mom in her business as well as a poster girl for deaf dogs and a working therapy dog.
